Mr. Maher Nasser, Commissioner-General of the United Nations at Expo 2020 and Director for Outreach in the Department of Global Communications, leads the United Nations’ participation at Expo 2020 in Dubai with support from his Deputy Commission-General, Ms. Dena Assaf, Resident Coordinator for the UN in the United Arab Emirates.

DESCRIPTION
On 1 October 2021, the UNPA will issue a special event three-stamp mini-sheet in the denominations of $1.30, CHF 2,00 and € 1,80 to commemorate the Dubai Expo in the United Arab Emirates. The Dubai Expo runs from 1 October 2021 through 31 March 2022. It was postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The theme of the Expo is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” and aims to inspire people to initiate change with a focus on sustainability, opportunity and mobility. The United Nations is joining nearly 200 pavilions and participants at the Expo to collaborate and innovate for a better and more sustainable world. The Opportunity Pavilion is home to the United Nations Hub – #UNHub where the UN will feature the impactful work of the United Nations, highlight international days, promote support for the Sustainable Development Goals, and much more.
According to Maher Nasser, the Commissioner-General for the UN at the Expo, the UN’s presence will inform, inspire and engage visitors to take impactful action towards a thriving future for people and planet.
The stamps and background of the sheet feature images of the pavilions at the Expo. They were designed by Sergio Baradat (United Nations).
A quantity of 15,000 sheets were printed by Cartor Security Printing (France). The stamp sheets are consecutively numbered.
