Secretary-General Guterres issued a statement through his spokesman late Tuesday, welcoming the understanding reached between the United Nations and the Syrian government on Monday to allow the United Nations and its partners to continue through the Bab al-Hawa crossing on the Turkish border for the next six months Conduct cross-border humanitarian operations to deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance to millions of people in need in northwestern Syria.

The Secretary-General also welcomes the Syrian government's mandate for the United Nations to continue cross-border assistance through the Bab al-Salam and Al-Ra'ee border crossings for the next three months, and agrees that the United Nations Cross-line assistance across Sarmada and Saraqib in Syria within the month.
