(John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts)出席查理·柯克(Charlie Kirk)的祈祷悼念会。

Thousands Gather in Washington to Honor Charlie Kirk

On September 14, 2025, thousands of mourners filled the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., for a prayer vigil honoring conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot during a university debate in Utah on September 10.
The memorial drew around 85 members of Congress along with prominent U.S. officials and citizens from across the country. The auditorium was packed to capacity, with many attendees standing. Families spanning three generations came together, offering comfort and solidarity.

The vigil opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a powerful rendition of Amazing Grace. Malia Shirley, an official from the nonprofit organization Turning Point USA and a close friend of Kirk, said in her opening remarks: “Knowing him made me a better person, and our nation is better because of him.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) described the tragedy as “a shadow cast over the entire nation,” adding that it deeply shook even Capitol Hill. “Charlie Kirk trained and educated an entire generation of joyful warriors,” Johnson said. “The best way to honor him is to live as Charlie lived.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reflected on Kirk’s influence in her political journey, quoting Scripture: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” She added, “We cannot let evil prevail in this beautiful land. Each of us must commit ourselves to doing good—for God, for family, and for country. That was Charlie’s message.”

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. spoke amid chants of “USA” and “MAHA,” calling Kirk his “kindred spirit” and a driving force in his alliance with former President Trump. Kennedy shared a personal story of how a young family member, inspired by Kirk, began carrying a Bible everywhere. “Millions of children across the country now want to live like Charlie Kirk,” he said. “That is a blessing for America.”
The atmosphere was solemn yet resolute. For many, Kirk’s death was not only a personal loss but also a profound wound to the conservative movement. Yet his enduring legacy of faith, conviction, and activism is expected to inspire generations to come.
