Global Education and Cultural Leaders Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival at Columbia University Teachers College, Promoting Cultural Exchange and Multilateral Cooperation

In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Center on Chinese Education (CCE) at Teachers College, Columbia University hosted a vibrant Open House and Festival Gathering at Grace Dodge Hall, Rooms 177–179. The event brought together scholars, alumni, and international guests for an afternoon blending cultural exchange, academic dialogue, and the spirit of reunion.
Chaired by Dr. He Nan Cheng, Executive Director of CCE, the gathering carried the theme “Reunion · Culture · Exchange,” highlighting the integration of Eastern and Western educational traditions and values. The hall was filled with the aroma of mooncakes, warm laughter, and a harmonious academic and cultural atmosphere.
Distinguished guests included:
Dr. Piyaratna Maharjan, Founder and President of Track Nepal, an NGO in consultative status with the UN ECOSOC;
Ms. Winny Power, UN NGO Representative and Founder & President of the Global Mazu Sustainable Development Foundation (GMSDF);
Ms. Toshiko Murata, OCCAM Representative to the United Nations;
Queen Mother Dr. Toshi, renowned African cultural diplomat and advocate for women’s empowerment;
Dr. France Zhao, Research Fellow at Columbia University Medical Center.
The guests engaged in cordial discussions with Dr. He Nan Cheng, Dr. Chen Wang, and distinguished alumnus Dr. Weixiang Pan, exploring future cooperation in education, cultural diplomacy, and sustainable development.
The afternoon concluded with artistic performances, alumni sharing, and mooncake tasting — a joyful celebration embodying the Mid-Autumn spirit: “Though miles apart, we share the same moon and heartfelt connection.”
This special gathering not only strengthened educational and cultural exchange between China and the United States but also reflected Teachers College’s inclusive and global vision as a leader in international education and intercultural understanding.
