Uganda-China High-Level Dialogue on Green Development Held at UN Headquarters |
New York ,UN headquater - July 24 During the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) held at UN Headquarters, a significant bilateral meeting was help between the Chinese Broad Group (USA) delegation,led by President Sunny Wong, and Rt. Hon. Kasule Lumumba Justine, Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister of Uganda.This high-level dialogue was coordinated by Ms. Winny Power, Vice President of the US-China Entrepreneur Association. The two sides held in-depth discussions on green building, clean energy, and sustainable urban development,The discussions yieled positive preminary results and established a strong foundation for future for future cooperation in green development between China and Uganda. The meeting reflected the growing commitment of China and Africa to advance sustainable development under the framework of the UN 2030 Agenda, and highlighted the critical role that businesses play in thisglobal mission. Minister Lumumba highly commended Broad Group's technological innovations in energy-efficient building and sustainable construction, and warmly welcomed greater participation by Chinese enterprises in Uganda's future green infrastructure initiatives.
As the key coordinator of this exchange, Ms. Winny Power also introduced the Asia-Pacific and China Education Cooperation Platform of The Hague Business School (The Netherlands), which she represents.She expressed a strong desire to foster institutional partnerships with the Ugandan government and universities in the areas of higher education, youth empowerment, women's leadership development, and cross-cultural talent training.
"Sustainable development is not just about technological progress or industrial transformation; it is equally about nurturing human capital and exchanging ideas," Ms. Power noted. "Education is the starting point of our shared future and global community."
To advance this vision, Ms. Power formally invited Broad Group and other Chinese entrepreneurs interested in Africa's green transformation to join a delegation visit to Uganda, aiming to gain firsthand insights into local needs and explore practical collaboration. Minister Lumumba responded positively, expressing the Ugandan government's willingness to facilitate and support such a visit.
The meeting drew attention from several Chinese business delegates attending the HLPF, further demonstrating the value of multilateral platforms in connecting global resources and advancing international cooperation.
As a gesture of friendship and cultural goodwill, Ms. Power presented Minister Lumumba with a traditional Chinese calligraphy artwork featuring the character "福" (Fu, meaning "blessing" or "good fortune"), personally written by Mr. Guiming Li, a renowned Chinese-American community leader and HLPF participant. The gift symbolizes harmony, shared prosperity, and the spirit of collaboration between China and Uganda.
"This character Fu' represents not only happiness and well-being, but also peace, co-existence, and hope," said Ms. Power. "I present this piece as a token of goodwill , envisioning a fufrom one of our most respected overseas cultural ambassadors as a token of goodwill, envisioning a future of shared success and sustainable development."
