New York Commemorates 9/11 Anniversary at Ground Zero
On September 11, New Yorkers gathered at Ground Zero to mark the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks. The solemn ceremony brought together families of victims, first responders, and leaders from across the city and state.
Governor Kathy Hochul reflected on the day’s significance, stating: “At today’s ceremony at Ground Zero, I was reminded once again of the unbreakable spirit of New Yorkers. We mourn together. We heal together. And we honor every name, every hero, and every sacrifice.”
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and other dignitaries also attended, joining the crowd in a moment of silence to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost. Bells tolled, names were read aloud, and flowers were placed at the memorial pools.
The ceremony underscored the resilience of New Yorkers and the enduring commitment to remember the lives taken and the heroism shown on that tragic day.
