Track Nepal Delegation Visits the New York Film AcademyWarmly Received by Vice President Dr Joy Zhu, with In-Depth Discussions on Film, Culture, and Artificial Intelligence Cooperation

A delegation from Track Nepal, a non-governmental organization with consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), recently visited the New York Films Academy (NYFA) and was warmly received by Vice President Ms. Zhu. The two sides held in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including film education, international cultural exchange, youth development, the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing film education and the creative industries.
The meeting took place in a constructive and cordial atmosphere. Both sides exchanged views on building
future exchange mechanisms, advancing collaborative initiatives, promoting youth empowerment, deepening
cross-cultural communication, and exploring new pathways for the integration of film, culture, and
technology. They also expressed a shared willingness to strengthen dialogue and pursue practical cooperation
in the future.

Representatives from the New York Film Academy included Vice President Dr Joy Zhu and relevant members of the Academy. Discussions focused on film education, cultural exchange, youth development, and the innovative application of AI in film and creative education.
Members of the Track Nepal delegation included Dr. Piyaratna Maharjan, PhD, Founder and President,Track Nepal; Ms. Winny Power, Chief Representative to the United Nations and Director of International Affairs, Track Nepal; Mr. Toshihiko Murata, Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Deputy
Director of International Affairs, Track Nepal; and Ms. France Zhao, Director of Education and Cultural Partnerships, Track Nepal.
Additional friendly partners and accompanying representatives also joined the exchange.
Following the meeting, the Track Nepal delegation toured the New York Film Academy, gaining further insight into the institution's achievements in film education, creative practice, internationalized teaching, and talent development. The visit not only deepened mutual understanding between the two sides, but also laid a stronger foundation for broader and deeper cooperation in the fields of film, culture, education, and artificial intelligence.
Meeting Highlights
During the discussions, both sides agreed that in an era shaped by globalization, digital transformation,
and rapid advances in artificial intelligence, film serves not only as an important form of artistic expression and cultural storytelling, but also as a powerful bridge for fostering international understanding, intercultural dialogue, youth development, and social innovation.
Through film education and cultural cooperation, both sides noted, cross-cultural exchange can help cultivate young talent with global vision and innovative thinking, while also creating more impactful ways to tell the stories of countries, communities, and shared human experiences.
Track Nepal introduced its long-standing work on United Nations-related platforms in advancing sustainable development, youth and women’s empowerment, international exchange, and civic participation.The delegation also shared examples of how cultural, educational, and international cooperation initiatives can
generate meaningful social impact. Track Nepal expressed its hope to explore a long-term and practical partnership with the New York Film Academy in areas such as film education, international project collaboration, cross-cultural content development, youth capacity building, and the creation of international exchange platforms.
The New York Film Academy welcomed Track Nepal's international background and its engagement in UN-related and public affairs initiatives, and listened with interest to proposals regarding future cooperation.Both sides discussed how film and education can better serve social development, youth growth, and international cultural exchange, while also exchanging views on emerging technological trends, particularly the integration of artificial intelligence into film creation, education and training, and global communication.
Both sides further noted that future cooperation could meaningfully align with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly with several key SDGs, including SDG 4: Quality Education; SDG 5: Gender Equality; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDG 10: Reduced
Inequalities; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
They agreed that through collaboration in film education, cultural exchange, and innovation, it is possible not only to strengthen the capacities of young people in the creative industries and the digital era, but also to expand opportunities for diverse cultures and communities to participate in international expression and public storytelling, contributing to a more inclusive, sustainable, and creative future.
The two sides also held preliminary discussions on potential areas of cooperation, including film and media education exchanges, youth training and creative talent development, socially impactful cultural communication projects, jointly organized forums or thematic events, and the integration of AI technologies
into film education, creative production, and international outreach.
Outcomes and Future Prospects
This visit further enhanced mutual understanding between Track Nepal and the New York Film Academy and laid a positive foundation for building a practical and forward-looking cooperative relationship. Both sides expressed hope that this meeting would serve as a starting point for continued communication, fuller use of their respective strengths, and the joint exploration of projects with educational, cultural, and social significance.
Looking ahead, both sides expressed their expectation to promote youth empowerment, educational innovation, international understanding, and cultural exchange through cross-sector, cross-cultural, and cross-platform collaboration, thereby making a positive contribution to the advancement of the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals.
