Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár Outlines Diplomatic Vision at the United Nations, Calling for P |
UNITED NATIONS, New York — During the 2026 United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), H.E. Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (pictured in Photo 1), hosted a diplomatic reception at United Nations Headquarters.Addressing diplomats and representatives of international organizations, Minister Blanár presented Slovakia’s vision as a candidate for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2028–2029 term. He also reaffirmed Slovakia’s commitment to multilateralism, international peace and security, and sustainable development.Held under the theme “Respect · Dialogue · Stability · Peace,” the event reflected Minister Blanár’s diplomatic vision: upholding the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law while addressing global challenges through dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect.The reception brought together prominent representatives of the United Nations and the international diplomatic community, including H.E. Lok Bahadur Thapa, President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations; the Permanent Representatives of Sierra Leone and Morocco; H.E. Christo Polendakov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria; as well as foreign ministers, ambassadors, permanent representatives and senior officials from international organizations.Participants exchanged views on international peace and security, multilateral cooperation, global governance and the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.Times Square Global Live was invited to attend and provide on-site coverage of the reception.
